Short-Stay Travel

Choose the visa that matches the purpose of your trip

Visitor and short-stay visas can cover tourism, visiting family or friends, eligible business visitor activities, transit, or working holiday travel.

The right pathway depends on your passport, purpose of travel, intended stay, age, location and whether you want only visitor activities or also limited work rights.

A visitor visa does not generally provide ordinary work rights. Working Holiday Maker visas are separate temporary pathways with specific age, passport and visa-condition requirements.
Tourism & family visitsSubclass 600, 601 or 651 may be relevant depending on eligibility.
Business visitor activitiesSome visitor pathways permit limited business visitor activities, not ordinary employment.
TransitSubclass 771 may be relevant for eligible travellers transiting Australia.
Working holidaysSubclasses 417 and 462 combine an extended holiday with limited work rights.
